Led by musicians from the Symphony Orchestra of India, this workshop combines musical learning with interactive fun, teamwork, and games while introducing children to a range of instruments. Participants learn staff notation, compose their own music, and experience conducting and performing. By linking classical music to what children hear today, the workshop builds musical awareness, imagination, and confidence-all while keeping the experience joyful and engaging.
What will your child learn?
• Introduction to all sections of the orchestra-strings, woodwinds, brass and percussion-and hands-on opportunity to try out instruments
• Basics of music theory, staff notation, introduction tomusic history and connecting classical foundations to modern music
• Understanding, practising and learning to conduct basic time signatures (2/4, 3/4, 4/4)
• Development of rhythm, pulse and pitch awareness through an active listening ear
Special Finale Day:
• Each team presents a short original composition created using the theory taught during the week
• SOI instructors perform the children’s compositions live, adding improvisations to bring their ideas to life
