This season Volodin will debut with Orchestre symphonique de Montréal and Antwerp Symphony Orchestra and return to Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, Russian National and China NCPA orchestras, and Gergiev Festival with Mariinsky Orchestra.  Recent highlights include his debut at the BBC Proms with the London Symphony Orchestra, and concerts with Orquestra del Teatro di San Carlo, Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della Rai, NHK Symphony, The Mariinsky, Rotterdam Philharmonic, the Swedish Radio and Danish National Symphony orchestras under the baton of Kent Nagano, Alexander Vedernikov, Valery Gergiev, Vladimir Ashkenazy and Dima Slobodeniouk. 
 
On tour, Volodin has in recent seasons toured Germany and Switzerland with SWR Sinfonieorchester and Pietari Inkinen, Germany with the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra with Alexander Liebreich, and in Latin America with Russian National Orchestra conducted by Mikhail Pletnev.
 
Recital dates include Wigmore Hall, Wiener Konzerthaus, Amsterdam Concertgebouw, LSO St. Luke’s, Barcelona’s Palau de la Música and Mariinsky Theatre, where he was Artist-in-Residence in the 2014/15 season. He regularly appears at Paris’ Philharmonie, London’s International Piano Series, the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatoire, Alte Oper Frankfurt, Munich’s Herkulessaal, Tonhalle Zürich and Madrid’s Auditorio Nacional de Música.
 
An active chamber musician, he has a long standing collaboration with the Borodin Quartet with whom he performs regularly.  Other chamber partners include Janine Jansen, Julian Rachlin, Mischa Maisky and Sol Gabetta, as well as the Modigliani Quartet, Cuarteto Casals and Cremona Quartet.
 
Volodin’s latest album with the Mariinsky label was Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No.4, conducted by Gergiev. Recording for Challenge Classics, Volodin’s disc of solo Rachmaninov works was released in 2013. He also recorded a solo album of Schumann, Ravel and Scriabin, and his earlier Chopin disc won a Choc de Classica and was awarded five stars by Diapason.  
 
A regular artist at festivals, Volodin has performed at Bad Kissingen Sommer Festival, La Roque d’Anthéron, Les Rencontres Musicales d'Évian, Festival La Folle Journée, the White Nights Festival in St Petersburg, St. Magnus International Festival and the Moscow Easter Festival.
 
Born in 1977 in Leningrad, Alexei Volodin studied at Moscow’s Gnessin Academy and later with Eliso Virsaladze at the Moscow Conservatoire. In 2001, he continued his studies at the International Piano Academy Lake Como and gained international recognition following his victory at the International Géza Anda Competition in Zürich in 2003.
