Katherine Bicknell

Katherine is a ‘superb’ (Classical Source) international flautist of 'sumptuous tone' (The Straits Times, Singapore) and 'striking musical ability' (musicweb). She is a guest principal of the London Philharmonic Orchestra, Philharmonia, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC Concert Orchestra, Aurora Orchestra, the Royal Northern Sinfonia and RTE Concert Orchestra performing in all the major UK concert halls and abroad including Glyndebourne, the Concertgebouw and the Lincoln Centre, New York.
 
Read More... Katherine is passionate about the education of young people and has taught some of the country's finest young flautists for over 15 years. She has worked in orchestra education and outreach projects since she left the Royal College of Music in 2003, most regularly with the LPO where she has worked with Crisis homeless charity, Leonard Cheshire Disability and children of all ages and backgrounds. Katherine was principal flute of the Symphony Orchestra of India from 2010 to 2016 forming musical and emotional ties with the country. In early 2014 she arranged and led the first education workshops with the orchestra in Mumbai and in 2015 led a week of workshops training Indian musicians in outreach work.

Katherine is also a successful artist and darts fanatic!
